Camaro Berlinetta 1979

I thought I would pop up the progress of this car's restoration for those interested. As it will be finished and mot today it seems a fitting time.

This camaro was imported in 1979 and registered in the UK also in 1979. I am the 3rd owner of the car and the previous owner bought it in 1988. It has been sitting off the road now since 2004 (we gather that from the old style mot certificates). It is in this time period the Goodwrench engine was fitted, they cost £2500 upwards alont to buy. Hard to prove mileage without receipt but the engine condition does back up the 16000 miles on the 5.7L v8.

Lot of welding has been done and if you look carefully you will see to the extent of the rust bubbling through.

There is one video footage of the return from the mot bay this am (oh and yes the car was nice and warm for the little play), failed on one brake lamp bulb (typical blew on the way up), one small section of welding and emissions. Hardly surprising as its hardly been driven and was drawing through manky old petrol.

James took the long route back and opened her up. He did at first think it was all noise and no speed but he came back with her running well and a grin on his face. He had changed his mind. Well she's going back later on today and will pass the emissions now the cobwebs have been blown away. :eyes:

I love her but some see her as f*** ugly, hence the nickname fugly. I love it.

Ooooh, soo nice to see a REAL engine again for a change!! Lovin the proper Edelbrock carb on the block too.

As for ugly, I think she is damn gorgeous. I'm a Mopar man when it comes to muscle, but I do love a nice Camaro!!

Again, can't wait to see this in the flesh so to speak :)

She is lovely, maybe not to everyone's taste. May have her or may not, depends on if we get what we want for her. Bidding seems to be going well. I have my eye on another few projects. I doubt this will be the last American car for us. ;)

Still got it, but looks like not for long. Just waiting for a bank transfer to clear and its going to Italy at the end of next week. That is if we successfully get it loaded onto the truck ;)

It's a lovely car. :D Definitly like the muscle cars and unusual cars.
