So we had a thread about tyre choices so what are your petrol preferences?

I have always and will only use Shell V power, or Optimax as it was known, in my Volvo just because I have found it to make a difference to the way the car goes and all the reviews I have read about V power/Optimax has always come out top or 2nd :)
My drives usually start or finish at a Shell garage so I know I don't have to use another type of fuel....

I now have about 6,000 v power points on my card but the Ferrari gifts are always out of stock in my size or are just above my points balance!

As for company car that gets what ever petrol from what ever station I am closest too. Occasionally I put a super of some sort in and it tends to make a difference although it could be in the mind.

I also have this issue where I just can't run my car lower than 1/4 of a tank. I don't even know where the petrol light comes on in relation to the fuel level!

Anyone else this sad?

I tend to put the shell or bp ultimate in but I am also quite happy using texaco premium in the cars, runs lovely as well. I don't generally use supermarket petrol even premium but the local tesco store whatever they have in their tanks is pretty nice. With the gto visits can be frequent and have had no problems here. Well I collect the club card points  and almost got enough now for my 3rd merlin card (for the theme parks!).

Obviously with jap cars premium is a must.

To bear in mind is no matter the "brand" of petrol it is always wise to look out for the old dodgy petrol stations where they very rarely clean out the holding tanks, you know the ones where water gets in.

I put V-Power or Tesco 99 in the Supra. The Shell garage is 1.6 miles and the Tesco garage about 0.5 a mile from my house so both very handy. My car never seemed to like the BP stuff so stay away from that.

Being a UK car I can use normal unleaded in it if I want to, but I try not to unless I'm very stuck. People say they can't afford the difference between the fuels but over a big tank like mine the difference is usually a fiver or less so I don't see the point in skrimping.

As for the Mondeo, I'd put veg oil in it if it wasn't an over-sensitive girl about the type of fuel it has :)

And I've run the Supra so low on petrol (waiting til the next garage but the garage was closed ) that I had to pull over and call a taxi to go and get a jerry can of petrol

That's handy if you get caught out at a garage that has run out of super. :)

PMSL must have been the most expensive can of petrol you have bought! :haha:

It's double clubcard points on petrol and diesel here at the mo! ;)

£7 to go ................. I spend half my life at petrol stations, thank god petrol prices have dropped.

I would love to know what petrol is in the tescos stores as I am very impressed with it, the lude and gto are really fussy with their petrol. BP are appalling with running out of premium.

Always BP ultimate for me or 102 if I can get it - did make a difference at the nurburgring!

There is no shell garage anywhere near me so I cant use the V Power!

As with all other supermarket petrol stations the general petrol and diesel comes from the cheapest major supplier.

Their 99 stuff always comes from Greenergy. It's fairly similar to V-Power in content but lacking a lot of the detergents and I seem to remember has a higher percentage of biofuel in it. Not always a good thing, but it is only trace amounts to raise the octane.

Would be interesting to try that 102 but the closest garage that sell it is a fair trek from me and I understand it commands a hefty price as well!

I think its over £1 a litre! Not for everyday use thats for sure. At the nurburgring there are 3 stations around the circuit selling 102 and it sells pretty well there! BP is called ARAL in Germany and is blue instead of green

Was gonna say, well over £2 a litre at least. Diesel today near me was 99p and petrol back up to 89p.. see the nice low price hasn't lasted long. Back to £90 to fill the Supra up again :(

V-power at my local station was 99.9p when I went there earlier today :(

They gradually creep it up until everyone realises that petrol prices take the piss! Then they drop it and gradually raise it up again - repeat cycle!
