I am now the proud owner of a Volvo 850 T5 station wagon :D And I must say, for a quick buy and a car to tide me over, I am seriously impressed with it and having great fun with it :D
My plans are fairly simple with her, just gonna tidy her up, she needs a bit of tlc to get her back up to her best, and then just gonna do my ICE stuff again :)
But it's all on a budget cos I'm seriously broke at the moment :( So using my commission to do as much as possible
So without further ado.............her is the ovlov :D

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a148/bkcr1/IMAG0117.jpg
And the engine, no more 4 slice toasters for me, 2.3 litre, 5 cylinder, turbo charged block this time  May not have VTEC anymore, but at least I have turbo now eh?
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a148/bkcr1/IMAG0104.jpg
Only problem with this engine is this:

Yupp, to fill the tank, it takes 70 litres / 15 gallons..........you do the math with gas prices at the moment
So the list so far for what I'm gonna do:
- Pioneer AVH-P5900DVD head unit with iPod connection
- Replace all OEM speakers with Infinity Reference speakers and amp them, so that'll be four 4" speakers and four 5.25" speakers :) woop!!
- Install 2x 10" Kicker Solobaric L5 subs powered by Vibe Blackbox Bass 4 amp
- Replace Lambda sensor
- Give it a good service
- Refurb the alloys and paint black
And that's about it to start with :)
Then I gotta tax and test it at the end of this month too :( that's not the fun bit!

'Station Wagon' LOL :D Nice, how much did you pick it up for? Auto I take it?
They're pretty dismal on petrol, big, heavy and as aerodynamic as a house. Still, could be worse, the Supra has 10 litres on that thing

Yea man, it's an auto box, and hahaa, yea, station wagon, tis what they are man :p
Picked it up for £500. Needs a new lambda sensor, has a non working stereo, and has the tailgate rattle so needs a bit of tlc to get her back to top notch, but for £500, I'm really happy :D
And cheers dude, must admit, I have been really impressed by this :D I think I might be hooked on Volvos!!!
£500 sounds good!
Seeing more and more volvo's becoming "kool".

Bloody bargain mate, a lot of car for the money there! Not a great deal to sort out either really, definitely be quids in.

Yea man, definitely a bargain!! Love it partially cos of that, and cos of the sheer grunt!!
So far on the lis is installation of some speakers and stereo etc... soon (ordering on Tuesday) so that'll be sweet, and I'm looking to play with a few little bits (admittedly with the help of some friends) and get her running about 300hp :) )
I timed her earlier and 14 years on, she's still hitting 60 in 7 seconds :)
7 secs is the same as my tigra!

Hahaa, yea, why I love ovlov, wouldn't expect a box on wheels with the aerodynamics of a town house to be able to perform like that would ya? :)
I knew they were fast but i guess il have to be careful next time i pull up beside one driven by a 80 year old at the traffic lights.

Hahaaa, doubt an 80 year old would boot it, but it's great fun though turning the traction control off, sticking it into sports mode, and just booting it. The wheels light up like mad :D heheee awesome fun!!!
God forbid what she'll be like with a service and some tuning done on her and I get her running 300hp heheee *evil laugh* lol
Crazy you are growing up :p LOL. I can talk................ still can't part with some of my favourites. I have been tempted but no can do.
Sounds like a sensible choice and one that I hope your nasty locals don't wreck. You've not had much luck there!

Yea, you're right, not had much luck at all, but hey, if they do in a £500 car, it ain't gonna bother me so much. The car smells kinda funky, and needs work doing to her, so not gonna kill me if it gets keyed, I'll just spray her matt black n she'll look sweet :D
And yea, was gonna say, you can't talk about growing up, Camaro, Manta, etc.. etc... lol
Though you'd love a friend of mine - she's just bought a gold Trans Am (1978) *drools*

You got a bargain there! You could flog it tomorrow for at least three times that price!
FYI Official 0 - 60 time from Volvo and Top Gear Magazine in 1995 was 6.8 (the 0.2 sec's makes all the difference! :)) for the T-5. They are limited to 155 mph if you ever get the opportunity to do a track day etc.
Enjoy it!

Heh, maybe so, but quite like having it :D
And I have the auto so I thought that added a bit of extra time, or is the 6.8 the standard time for both auto and manual?
I definitely will enjoy it cheers :D

Update time.
Well she passed her MOT with just a new handbrake cable needed and the rear hanger for the exhaust welding up.
Got a nice new steering wheel on there too :) My old Momo carbon fibre one :) Also fitted a manual boost controller and a cone air filter in a custom made heat sheild (ghetto style!!)
So now just looking for some steel wheels to put her on banded steelies, paint her matt black and see about maybe doing the rusted hood thing. May just 50's rod her and do flat black with red and white scallops.
Oh, and I had her dyno'd the other day - 227.7hp and 276ft-lb torque :D Woooop!!! And that is with crap plugs and leads on there too! Upped the boost a bit, get the plugs n leads sorted, get her decatted and she should be running sweet as anything then :D

So glad for you Crazy :d Probably won't get damaged either, you'll have the volvo luck. Well I do hope I've not spoken too soon.
Oh yeah and me, I never grow up, it keeps life interesting;)

To be honest, it doesn't really matter if it gets damaged or not - I'm looking to rat her a bit - would love to go with the whole rusted hood and banded steels thing, but have to see how things go eh?
Bad news though, my subs have gone down the shitter :( So need to get some new sub speakers  Ah well, time to get some killer bass I think heheheeeeeeee
Ohh dear, not fake rat :(
Just sling some alloys on it and do some minor mods.
Crazy_C
03-06-2010, 06:18 PM
Well it's real rat at the moment - got 3 silver alloys and 1 gunmetal one, got a stripe on the side where the previous owner went to repaint a key scratch and used V70 grey and not the grey on the 850  and a chipped windshield and some scuffs on the rear nearside arch LOL
Just fancied doing it, but I reckon I'll just stick her on some black steel wheels and sort out the stripe so it's the right colour :)
That sounds better, i do hate the look of matt black/rat cars

I love flat black cars, but I'm into my old skool rods :)
Just had a good blast out in her, and mmmm, turbo in cold air is awesome :D

Well I got bored before I left to go to work today and this was the result:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a148/bkcr1/IMAG0190.jpg
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a148/bkcr1/IMAG0191.jpg
I'm really happy with how well they fit in there (need to add spacers on the front, 5-10mm and some padding on the back to keep the magnet more separate from the window motor) but they go in very nicely and was a very quick mod to do :D
So now, the speakers I'm running are:
Dash - 2x 4" Infinity coaxials
Front Doors - 2x 5.25" Vibe coaxials, 2x 6.5" Infinity coaxials
Rear Doors - 2x 6.5" Vibe coaxials
Rear Pillars - stock tweeters
Subs - 2x 10" Kicker L5s
And plans are to add 2x 6.5" Infinity coaxials to the rear doors, and 4x 6x9 Infinity coaxials to the trunk instead of the rear pillar tweeters in a pair of custom boxes I'm going to make to go either side of the sub box in the back :D

Well I've decided I'm going to rat out the ovlov, and I've started off by getting rid of the T5 alloys that were on there, and replacing them with a set of 15" steelies that are rather filthy and dirty and I think they look much much better on there now :D
I'm going to start sanding down the hood too to get rid of all that paint and let it rust and paint the rest of it satin black and grey, like a destroyer from the navy :) Should be funky!!

Cheers Kerry, yea, should look really mean when get the paint off the hood :)
I have about 2 weeks to get her all done ready for ISTS, but that shouldn't be too hard really, not like I'm doing anything hi tech lol

Well I've done the hood now, it's all down to the bare metal and I am debating on if I should laquer it like it is or let it rust? I am thinking rust will look more rat, and not dazzle other drivers when we do get sun, but it is getting some good looks driving round with the hood like this :D

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a148/bkcr1/IMAG0212.jpg
 *crys*
Shat look coming up :(
But i know, each to there own and that.
Crazy_C

The paint was flaking on the hood anyways so either way, it needed it, but yes, rat look here I come!!!
There are 5 850s down the scrappy, 2 in the same color, so getting a new hood is never any issue really :)
