View Full Version : 3rd Time Lucky
After buying a cut and shut corsa, going to luton to see a auto one that i found out to be a write off, today i finally bought a new decent corsa :d

Head gasket needs doing, so il spend at least £200 on it to add to the £250 buying price. Its done a massive 170k, all done by the previous owner who used to do a 80mile trip everday. Only 2 owners though. Car is straight and preety rust free bar the bonnet rust.
Paid for it all etc, towing it back tomorrow morning.
Then its modding time :D Got loads of black bits and extras to add from the stripped cut 'n' shut one.
Cheap motoring again for me lol

Haha, "Honey, I shrunk the engine!" Where's the other half of it?! :D
Looks like a good bargain, £200 to fix the head gasket? Surely you can do it cheaper than that?!
lol 12valves FTW!
£100 is the timing chain, gaskets, head gasket set alone is £50, head bolts, oil, filters, plugs (Shame you cant buy them in 3's)
:d
macca

Didn't realise they had chains, can you not refit the chain then? That's an expensive head gasket set since most things are 3/4 size! lol..
Yea they are chain driven :( I may reuse the chain but it depends on the cond of it, most seem to stretch when tensioned up. Plus its done 170k so if it hasnt had one before it could do with being done.
Gasket set is extremely expensive i know! but it is genuine vauxhall.
Found out a reason the head gasket might have gone in the first place, rad seems to leak, also done a compression test and it appears the middle cylinder is down on compression.
Also have a more worrying problem of lack of oil pressure so i havnt run it long. I think its due to the thick oil due to the water and lack of servicing or just the sender, which is under £5 so :d
Finally got some work done. Got the SRi front seats and rear door cards fitted (just temp stuff though), Fitted a display (date/time/temp/radio shit) with Blue bulbs.
Other than that the interior hasnt changed (lol), outside hasnt changed one bit yet. Few mods planned though :)
Got the head off today, all 3 cylinders had water in them, the middle was totaly full though!. Head seems fine, going to skim it of course.
Got a couple of things i plan to buy tomorrow (ebay). Might be going on a long roadtrip next weekend.
Already done one minor mod:
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Image0060.jpg
Should be fitting it tomorrow. See how it looks.
Macca if you read this fire this into projects section :p
Picked up a complete interior last week, front and rear seats, and of course front and rear door cards. Its from a late (95>) Corsa Sport, so better style than the SRi stuff i had. Finished rebuilding the head (Decided to not just skim it, but to do all the valve seats again), Just need the energy to get the sump off and then remove the timing chain stuff.
Couple of pics, You can see the painted grill, the bumper isnt bolted on tight atm so gaps everywhere. Also fitted my 5spoke wheels, decided on them for the car, just refurbishing the other tho i have laying around, and then il refurb the other two. Wont be mint wheels as its not ment to be a show car.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/104_3600.jpg
And the very empty 3cylinder engine bay. Going to fix the engine, get it running, MOT it and then take it off the road for a weekend and repaint the engine bay (same as i did on the nova)
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/104_3602.jpg
That be all from me for today. Might go and have a play with it.

Sorted ;)
Haha, look at the ickle engine!! I bet you can lift the block up with one hand?!
I prob could!
Another quick pic with the newly refurbed wheels:
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3613.jpg
Dark but meh lol
Edit: Excuse the arches that you could sleep in, lack of most of the engine (not that there is much to start with!), and i havn't moved it since changing wheels.
Now been up and running for a week, solved most of the running problems, just got the engine management light on.
Few pics

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3670.jpg
Got a Full post 97 interior fitted, as well as a black headling etc. Just need a few trim bits, GSi steering wheel and rev counter clocks and the interior will be finished.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3665.jpg
Outside im just starting to do the mods, one will be a CF bonnet due to the usual corsa rust:
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3674.jpg
And the other is going to be a resprayed bootlid with the wiper and lock bit gone, as well as fitted with a spoiler, since i took the badges off and the paint came off too!, See pics

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3662.jpg
Mot is tuesday, once it passes il get the tigra sold, buy some new rubber for my 5spokes and lower it at last.
Cant wait to have it done.

Good work - very good match indeed! Keep it up :D
Well yesterday the car.........................
Passed :d. Rattles like fuck under load, bottom end shells are buggered.
Today i finished up the headlining so its all hunky in there. Cleaned the engine bay, repaired the bonnet, and sprayed up the wiper arms.
Going to repair the cross member tomorrow, and put the front bumper back on. Will update with pictures tomorrow, maybe lol

Well done on the MOT, bugger about the shells. Still, easy enough to do on that I suspect?
Its a sump off and then its preety easy. Not too expensive eather, going to see if i can talk my mate into helping me do it once im insured on this beast, I mean, VERY slow thing.
For now im not worried about it.
Take one Corsa, remove front bumper
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Corsa39.jpg
Notice rusty cross member.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Corsa40.jpg

Spoiler will be going on soon, plus a few other bits to do.
Need to sort insurance out, then i can drive it :)

EGR will be here tomorrow, bottom end bearings are going to be done, so il sort that this weekend i think.
More delay before its on the road :(

Dude, letting the air out of the tyres doesn't count at lowering! :D
^ lol Pumped tyres, and a bit of a better look now the suspension has settled.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3749.jpg
Will put the 13inchers back on tomorrow prob. And get a gromit for the rear wiper.
EDIT: Also got my EGR yesterday, solved my engine management light fault, runs a bit better now too.
Shells could end up costing £150 by the time everything is included. But im doing my mate a favor, so should get the lot free.
Egr replaced, EML gone ;)
Bottom end this week/end.
Painted the brakes all round, removed the rear wiper, fitted boot pop and put a smoothed grab handle thing, Also fitted my spoiler.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3772.jpg
Put on my final 2 wheels that have been refurbed, tyres next week i hope.
Look much better without silver tyres haha Can see the painted calipers and drums too.

Without centre caps?
Or with?
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3775.jpg
Want it on the road, finished so badly :(

Definitely with centre caps. Looking really good though!
So nice to see a Corsa done up tastefully, they look so nice when done properly. Such a change to the chav-wagons round here! There's one parks opposite my work which is just hilarious, I'll have to get photos.. Dark green 4-door with this huge, wide, ridiculous bodykit!
Im feeling the centre caps too!
Most of the corsas around now are eather tastefully modded or ratted :(, the ones that missed the bus to the scrapyard (Or should i call it fibreglass yard) generaly dont appear much anymore around here, or any of the forums.
Deffo get pics! Will be good to have a laugh.

I will see what I can do ;)
Wasnt going to update this until the weekend, but i cant wait.
First up, Smoked (Depo style) Headlight and De-badged grill (Freebie!)
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3807.jpg
Up the back, ive changed the boot lock thing, Just waiting for a Opel Blitz badge (anyone got one?!), otherwise ive added a irmscher sticker (Not straight :( ), aswell as a Opel badge. Trying to hide where the paint as been removed from removing the old badges.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3808.jpg
Ignore the odd wheel. The Attempt to cover up the missing paint isnt looking good, Might have to just splash out on the standard Vauxhall and Corsa badges in the updated style.
Otherwise, got a few more bits to come, One thing is a big thing, that im keeping quite  ;)
Update again tomorrow.
Comments Please!

Looking great dude, well done!
Went on a massive 10min road trip today haha, £35 got me 4 alloys with Toyo proxys T1R's with a good amount of tread.
Not the nicest wheel to look at il admit, hence im going to run them until i sell the tigra and then swap the tyres onto the 5spokes.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3809.jpg
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3810.jpg
Once again its the with/without centre cap debate.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3812.jpg
Im thinking without centre caps, that or maybe i should smooth the centre caps like i did with the 5spokes?
Should get myself a 2nd headlight tomorrow, will have a matching set then lol
Comments please.

Can't complain for £35 especially with those tyres! I don't think they look too bad at all.. I prefer with caps but would look even better smoothed off!
That was my exact reason for buying them, well worth it, even if i weigh the wheels in for £15 thats £20 for 4 part worn tyres!
Im thinking about smoothing the centre caps too, do a slight refurb and do them the same colour as the 5 spokes.

Hello mate, just been catching up with your thread, cars looking very impressive but :D
Defiantely with centre caps personally. Thats stupid cheap for them wheels especially with them tyres, git :D
Just posted a link to a corsa on pistonheads in 'the bar' which I think you'll appreciate
Cheers man, Gonna have a play with the centre caps, plan to smooth one and see what it looks like, Im liking the look without centre caps atm.
Today i finally got the bottom end shells replaced, No more knocking! YAY! Corrected the tracking and camber, car is much much nicer to drive now.
Got a couple of pics yesterday, removed the Trip stickers, and ive started to think about the rear of the car again.

I saw those wheels on a mk4 Astra today..
Dunno what to suggest with the rear though. It does need something, but not sure what the something is!
They are mk4 wheels ;)
I keep thinking about the badges, having the three types looks silly (Black, Polished and Satin Silver), so might change the Opel for a Corsa badge, and the Irmscher for a Irmscher badge, rather than a sticker. Boot lock bit (Black thing) Needs a badge, Most likly il go for a Opel Blitz but im not sure.
Waxed it, looks lush IMO.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3853.jpg

Smooth over and de-lock the rear boot lid :D... you know you want to :P. I have a 12v actuator you can have off me for a few quid, button the dash... boom button release boot :D
Already removed the lock ;) The bit left is just the surround bit as im waiting for some spare money to respray the bootlid so then il remove that and the rear wiper hole :)
Macca - Yeah i thought it might look better too but its not staying.

^Jesus i failed there!^
Been doing some little things to the car, so once again it was over my mums having bits pulled apart, Want to get some proper pics of it next week though!
Interior wise ive just changed the wheel for the Nova's GSi one, as the standard corsa one is wank.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3875-1.jpg
Next up was a engine bay change, Eagle eyed of you will notice the changes, really does change the engine bay though! Old pic:

And todays engine bay ;)
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3885.jpg
Just want to get a new header tank (tried to clean but its just gone the normal yellow :(, Battery jacket and maybe a proper clean up, as its very hard to clean it all, maybe il take the engine out and do it all?
Other than the above i got a quick pic of the back
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_3881.jpg
Liking the car as it is atm, Just a few more changes and it will be perfect.
Keep getting lots of comments on how it looks, even tho its not got massive changes, just small stubble ones.
Love this car lol

Looking very clean and 'smooth' if that makes sense lol. Mods are very subtle but stand out more imo. Looks good pal, liking the progress so far!
Yeah, preety much everyone has said its the small mods that make it, I love the silver and body colour rocker/coilpack cover.
Wheels have grown on me too, Love them now, really suit the car, All of you was right!
Won a Rear Anti Roll Bar today on ebay, Five pound well spent i think!
Will get it drilled at work tuesday and get it fitted one evening, Should be a great mod.
As said in tigra thread ive also won a complete dash, So il use the glovebox, bit above the glovebox and prob some other bits on the corsa, Dash even includes the Standard Vauxhall CD/radio which i worth £50!, Will prob stuff that in the nova.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_3936.jpg
Want to paint the rear beam now though. Dont know what it is like to drive yet though.
Also changed a few bits on the dash, no pics of that, nothing to show really.

Please tell me the cable tie isn't holding your car together?! Lol.. :D
The whole world is held together with cable ties and gaffa tape :p
But yeah, the ARB does nothing in the middle, so the cable tie is just there in case the bolts snap.

Cable ties rock! My friends don't agree though :(

05-10-2010, 09:18 PM
I should add, that I modified the intake on an old GT4 so that it was straight rather than S-shaped as they are from the factory. To do this, the battery had to be moved back.
As a temporary measure I cable tied the battery in to position to see if it all worked and fitted etc. Time moved on, but I never did get round to making a proper bracket for it.
Worked fine, but people thought it was a bit shite :d
Day off today so cracked on with the corsa, first up gave it a full clean, was covered in crap due to all the bugs around. Got one wheel off as the paint on it was rubbish from when i painted them.
Instantly when removing it i noticed a bit of rust and a bit of underseal sticking up, I pulled it off foolishly, Bit of a poke and wire wheeling and i was left with this mess!
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_3942.jpg
So im going to fill the chassis leg in that area with underseal, cut some of the metal out and weld in a plate. Not what i was expecting to do but oh well. Cant do anything yet though.
So while i was down there i got a pic of the rear arb, painted it up silver rather than the gash yellow it was!
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_3945.jpg

Shame about the rust buddy, but on the positive side, its one of the easiest places to get to lol. Will you be doing the welding etc yourself? Did you find any more...
I hate rust :( lol... especially with the bug. If I could put a heater in my garage and insulate it, I would lol.
As for the zip ties; I wish I took shares out in them before I put my avensis in a ditch lol... they are the future!
Yeah, much better than trying to lay on my back and do it!
I have indeed welded it myself now, No pics tho as i have been flat out, nothing much to look at now, just a bit of clean underseal where the rest is dirty lol
Rust is a fapping pain, but oh well, once its sorted proper, its sorted for life, until the bit next to it rusts lol.
zip/cable ties are indeed the future, I buy massive packs of the small ones as i use so many lol

For sure, The 12v has done well tho, will do for now though.
Facepalm!

Kinda annoyed at this car now.
Alternator is noisy as funk, shocks are funked, and the brakes judder when there hot now.
Also had a problem with the amount of engine movment, so doing them one by one, ive bought a brand new GM gearbox mount
Hmmm GM bagged goodness

Much difference between the old and new mount?
Hats off to you mate, your attention to detail is 2nd to none! It is always annoying when you can just about see the light at the end of the tunnel, then suddenly more niggles pop up. You'll get there mate, looking very clean and 'smooth'... Subtly modded ftw
Wouldn't say my attention to detail is great, but if i could id strip this car and redo it all, but unfortunately i dont have the money, or the time lol
Yeah, i always knew there was going to be more, its just a shame its once i take the tigra off the road lol
Much difference between the old and new mount?
Visually, only very slight, but in the driving, massive difference, You can visually see the gear stick moving less, real improvement. But it has made the gear selection a bit more notchy, and as i noticed the other day, the gearbox whines, so i plan to replace the gearbox and clutch asap, Maybe the flywheel too!
Been wanting a couple of good pictures so tonight, i got a couple.
Loving the looks.

Ah man, after all the work it would be a shame to see it go. Disheartened with it, or just fancying a new project?
Stavros
06-19-2010, 05:29 PM
Both lol
Lol any thoughts for the next project squire? Is the brake problem not an easy fix or is it a new unit?
I dont know what is causing the juddering, could be pads but ive no idea. Fed up of it now, Even once ive done the brakes there is more to do, more problems to sort, which could be hard to trace.
No idea for a next project, most likly vauxhall again, maybe something 2.0 this time!

Should be sorting the pas pipe monday, and i might have sorted myself a bracket.
Cant wait to have it done.
Edit: The gear linkage, OMFG, It is amazing! Tight and precise, needs a bit of a tweek though as its too far back atm, five min job for one day. Well worth the mass amount of money i spent lol
Pipe done today
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_4261.jpg
Just awaiting pump bracket, last wiring bits and some fluid
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_4262.jpg
Fusebox has moved since pics.
Got the bracket yesterday, still waiting on a couple of wiring bits.
Got the bracket mounted up, Just need to remount the reservoir somewhere (New pipe needed i think :( Unless anybody has any ideas?)
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_4263.jpg
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_4264.jpg
Excuse the cable ties, i had to tie up the reservoir to fill it full of fluid and give it a quick test (Unfortunately i used very thin wire so couldn't do a full test) All seems well though.
So anybody got any ideas on the reserviour mounting, i can only think of getting a longer pipe (Dont know how/where from though :( ) and mounting it on the turret as i had it before, but the pump has moved forward/up with this new bracket.
Right total failure since last time, pump smokes when you run it :( Getting my brother who is more likly to know to check it out, sounds like new pump time though :(
But anyway, had some LED sidelight bulbs turn up, There inverted cap so should in thery put out the light better.
Before:

Next up, Headlight bulbs once i have sorted the PAS.
Also had this sticker laying around for damm ages, so stuck it on as a laugh

Corsa is coming on well mate! Very nice subtle changes/additions!! Looking good pal :D
3rd Time Unlucky this thread should be called....
Wasnt even finished and there is a fuckup....
So today i changed the rad fan switch as it wasnt working since the engine refit, just one of those things i guess.
Got it changed, filled up the coolant, shut the bonnet, started the car and went inside to wait, stood up for a few mins talking and then while looking at my corsa through the window i notice white smoke, which i figured, Ahh just steam from the header tank, maybe its boiled over.
Casually walked out to the car, as i got around to the drivers side to turn the car off and pop the bonnet the smoke changes to grey/black smoke. Figured, maybe just the pump is smoking again, meh. Opened the bonnet and OHHHH FUCKKKKKKKK, flames next to the battery from the PAS pump wiring, quick panic and the watering can i had used to fill the water was emptied on the flames.
Seems the wiring directly off the pump has melted, maybe due to the thicker wire we used but seems weird as it wasnt that much thicker, it was just overkill as a piece of mind, it appears it was too much.
It dont look that bad, but ofc its new pump time, plus another £30 on all the wiring bits, not a happy bunny.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_4317.jpg
Looking back at the pic, its not as bad as i thought, but still manged to singe the bonnet sound deadening.
Fair amount of black smoke around too
Fucking hate this car atm. Another thing that happend today was a shelf FELL on me.....
Big thanks to Aron over on corsasport and i now own some brand new MHW's, Collected and fitted them straight away.

Looking very clean mate; ride height is subtle but it looks 'right' if that makes sense. Not too much or too little gap in the arches. Squire you're a perfectionist! :D...btw, I like it with the mud flaps :)
you hit the nail on the head perfectionist for sure.
i love the ride-height too.

Just Spax adjustable rear shocks set midway and then 45mm drop springs, and a 22mm anti roll bar.
It really dont understeer though, its so tight.

lol The tyres lose grip before the suspension does.
Makes the tigra/sport feel shit though lol
Since im selling the tigra, the 5spokes had to go onto that, so the flat faced gay five spokes went on for a week, but i sold them today. So, until i get my new tyres fitted.. Im rolling on odd wheels, YEAH!

One main off, looks perfect! Result, Il be reusing them!

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Engine/102_5169.jpg
Crank looks ok there too, i think il be changing it anyway, depends what the other shells come out like.
I am going to check how tight the pistons are in the bores as i know this block has been honed, and im concerned it might of been over-honed and thus piston slap is happening and causing the noise, but after seeing that shell, i think that is going to be the cause of the knocking.

Looks like a very likely culprit eh! I bet that car was dragging it's arse on it's bumpstops?!
It wasnt actually lol, Other the lack of performance (HA!) you couldnt tell you had all that weight in the back.
Had a bit more of a look into the engine, turns out, that shell is the only one that is fucked :s, Others, are like new! Im gona have to get onto the guy, and ask what the guy did. Crank the standard size too, hasnt worn.
Engine is being mothballed for future use, found a buyer for the 1.4 engine ive got laying about so il strip the 1.6 for the bits.
I got a couple of pics of the car.

Centre cap stickers came today :D Also started on the pas pump bracket to move it lower.

I like the exhaust a bit better now :S Its actually alright. Still need to do something about the tip though, cant stand it :(
Today though, i cleaned the car :o

Looks nice! Just needs a proper engine ;)
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/102_5316.jpg
White wheels on temp. Its coming off the road tomorrow anyway. Hopefully for just a couple of weeks, Depends what i decide to do lol
Changed a couple of little things on this, Headlight, blubs, sorted a rear light, changed a slave cylinder, few other bits.
It will go back on the road soon.
I've decided to do a engine conversion. I was planning to fit a 1.6 and then later next year change it to a 1.6 Turbo, but since this means il be spending more money, and il be waiting for my mate to break his car, Ive decided to build the 1.6 turbo as i have some of the bits needed and can crack on with the engine building straight away.
SO now a little planned spec and what ive got to buy and a price list
1.6 Block, Pistons (Already have)
1.4 crank/conrods
Standard head with just a skim and a bit of a clean up and maybe a little bit of port smoothing, nothing much.
Custom upper-inlet, Adjustable FPR.
Corsa VXR Turbo and manifold £250!
FMIC (Hopefully a twin pass), £50/100
Oil filter relocation setup £100
There are other bits like a custom downpipe, boost pipes, and other stuff, But total cost is set to be about £650.
It will only run low boost, But what fun :). Next winter il increase the boost by lowering the compression more and maybe switching to emerald ECU
I do plan to make loads of changes in the engine bay, Smooth off holes, Just really improve it.
I hope to have it done by June 11th. That is the start of the two day Santa pod vauxhall show.
This is the only site that is likely to be updated as i want to keep it under wraps for the full effect when i finish :d

Sounds sweet, I look forward to seeing the build for this one!
There wont be much for a while, Over the next month or so it will mostly just be the bare engine getting built. Il try and collect some bits for the conversion but im in no real rush yet.
The rushing will happen when the car comes off the road and i weld up the engine bay.
Doner engine bits to start off.
1.4 16v bottom end, Its had a recent head gasket and the head has been well cleaned, I'm only interested in the crank and conrods, few other bits from the bottom end too, but not the bores or pistons.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/AWMotorsportz/102_5332.jpg
Head is clean, Can see where the stem seals had gone, Il do a bit of cleaning up on this head and a tiny bit of port smoothing, Il try and not skim it but we'll see. Il of course clean up the valves, stem seals and lap the valves in etc.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/AWMotorsportz/102_5334.jpg
Finally, the 1.6 that will donate its block and pistons with nearly new rings.
Will also use the steel sump, Maybe not the one i have atm as its a bit bashed, But being steel it means i can of course weld in a return.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/AWMotorsportz/102_5339.jpg
Will finish stripping both asap, get the 1.6 block cleaned and painted silver before buying the bits.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_5406.jpg
Just posted these somewhere else to explain problems with some guys plan of a simple turbo build
Il explain here too.
First up, The Corsa VXR Exhaust manifold bolts straight up to the older 1600xe head, Win. The head requires a tiny amount of work for the exhaust ports to be perfect, but nothing 20mins with a dremal cant sort!
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg167/Count85/Track%20day%20nova/1600turbo004.jpg
Then the problem is where the downpipe should be, theres a bloody great oil filter in the way! Even a oil filter relocation setup will prob require the downpipe to have a notch out at least.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg167/Count85/Track%20day%20nova/1600turbo008.jpg
Finally, The Corsa runs a funny shaped Airbox/AFM to turbo route, for no real reason it seems! I can only presume its due to vauxhall designing it similarly to the Astra Turbo's.
So, this means the turbo intake needs to be heavily modded, or in my case, completely remade, completely custom. Standard shown here.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg167/Count85/Track%20day%20nova/1600turbo009.jpg
I'm hoping to take delivery of my Turbo this week, then i can mock the head/block up and check for Corsa mount clearance as there is growing worry that the turbo will foul the mount, that or make it extremely hard to run intake pipework.
I will also be starting on the head work, so i will get pictures of that, Although i also have a few other jobs to get on with, Gotta try and brave the cold in my shed to get it done, we'll see.

Can you not use a thick spacer plate between the manifold and head? You could use that to transition between the differing sets of ports too by blending from one to the other, save modifying the head? Should give you extra clearance over a filter relocation kit or possibly even the filter if there's enough room.
Hmm, never thought of that! Only issue i can see is how close the rad is, but i have no idea how close it will sit yet, Nobody has done this in a corsa.
The head modding is more a flow thing, as there something that sticks up, its not a big job but i was already planning to match the ports properly.

Proper port matching is always effective so that's a good idea. I didn't know how different the port shapes were.
12v engine is dead, Again.
No anti-freeze has lead to no compression on the 3rd cylinder, leaving number 2 slightly down, and number 1 on full compression still, isn't enough to get it started though.
I may have been wrong, done a wet test, forgot to do it last night, done it just now. Comp shot up, put some more oil down, plugs back in, tried to start it and vroom, up it fires, loads of smoke pours out but, its running. Woo

Stop breaking things!! :tounge:
I didn't break it! It broke itself! And fixed itself.
With it fixed, I treated it.... By pulling it apart to test fit the fmic
The FMIC, IS bigger than the engine *facepalm*

Goes here:
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/AWMotorsportz/100_5416.jpg
With the fan moved, it should be ok, I cant remove the fan atm as it means removing the rad first.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/AWMotorsportz/Image0195.jpg
I'm still waiting on a Corsa VXR Intercooler, But my turbo has turned up!
Until later....
... Told you I'd be back.

This alone has answered a few questions, I was worried about the engine mount, but i can see straight away, no need to worry. BTW, This is not the block I'll be using.
Said about this before:

Answered a lot of questions as i said, Need to find all the right fittings now though, (Oil/coolant).
:)
Early morning delivery left me with one long box. VXR IC is here :D
Got a spare few mins to get it trial fitted.

You've still got a lot of ice up there! Ours has all gone, thankfully.
Loving the AW11 in the background ;)
Why don't you like bonnet lifters? I think they're bloody handy. Nearly did myself a mischief when we got the ST170 though, the Mondeo had them but the Focus doesn't. Opened the bonnet and threw it up as you do with lifters only to realise it was coming back down towards me rather rapidly!
I got smacked in the head by some on a mates corsa years ago lol
I'll maybe make a post about the MR2, Will have to see what pics I have.
Today, I re-washed it, Still haven't got around to doing the bumpers or wheels, but in time.
Waiting on centre cap stickers still too, Also new plates, but I wanted pics.

Turbo build is firmly on hold since I cant afford it atm, But plans are all sorted now, Just a case of buying a std engine and then buying a list of parts.
MOT booked for Next wednesday.
This hasn't been updated for soo long, Nothing has really changed though....
Although last week I saw these for sale and just had to have them, Electric Blue Flocked dash bits...

If anybody else wants any flocked bits doing, Let me know and I'll put you onto the lad who done mine, Its perfect.
When I had previously done work on this car I'd test fitted the speedlines on the front of it.... And I love it, so when the silver one comes off the road, I'll be putting the speedlines onto this, and maybe the coilovers too.
