3 weeks yesterday we're off on our annual trip to Europe, can't wait!!! This year it's the dragon-in-law's place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria. She lives in a farmhouse on the Hausberg mountain (you actually have to go DOWN to get the cable car ffs!!).
From the balcony at the house you have a wonderful view of another mountain, called, and I kid you not, The Wank! To go up the Wank, you use the Wank-bahn. Once at the top you can go for a drink in the.....

And if it all goes horribly wrong and the car needs fixing, I can take it to.....

After a few days there we're off over the mountains (Brenner Pass) down to Rome, then back up across Switzerland to Strasbourg, and finally back home.
Just an ickle trip......

That route is 2,316 miles, on top of that is the other 250 miles in England to get to the tunnel and back. We deliberately miss out France to avoid the tolls, by doing an extra 20 miles it saves over £100!! The route only includes one sightseeing diversion, point D is the Galleria Ferrari at Maranello :D So, with daytrips etc it'll be over 3,000 miles.
Can you tell I'm excited??????????????

You've got every reason to be excited, looks like an awsome trip, should be some awesome scenery on the way too.
Look forward to seeing the highlights when you get back ;)
:D Remind me then not to shake your hand when we meet and save that strength for climbing mountains.
Seriously looks like great fun and looking forward to hearing all about it!

Your trip sounds brilliant! I thought maranello was fantastic. I was lucky enough to see Schumacher on the Fiarano test track, and I have been a Ferrari fan since that day.
Hope you dont need to visit that garage though! :d

Was doing some final preparation stuff today and had a play with google maps, which means I may have to alter my route just a little bit :D
The route that TomTom had drawn is perfect, except it wants me to go through a tunnel at one point, which would mean I miss out this.....

Methinks I'll be coming off the motorway and using the "rural" route for that section :D

Only in Rome (you can't imagine how many Life of Brian gags I managed to get into 3 days!), I think his tracking may be a bit out?

To be honest, we were a little disappointed with Rome (the fact they are guaranteed visitors because of Vatican City means they aren't too fussed about getting rid of rubbish and graffiti), but I would strongly recommend a couple of days in Strasbourg, beautiful city and great atmosphere.

Weather was stunning. There was a huge electrical storm on the night drive from Calais to Brussels (no rain, just enormous lightning strikes), was pishing with rain on the first afternoon in Bavaria, but from the next morning on it was a minimum of 27 degrees during the day, and well over 30 all the time in Italy.
