Hey all,
Well, after much deliberation, I have decided to sell the beetle. The car spends a large part of its life living in my garage where it takes up 90% of the space. I have other needs for this garage and the beetle has become a bit of a hinderance.
Below I have attached the link to my project thread where you can see pic's and various things ive done to it. I have a folder full to the brim of every reciept spent on the car by both myself and the previous owner.
As you will see from my log this car has been fully stripped and rebuilt; the one thing it doesnt state is the engine is infact a 1600cc unleaded model which was installed in replacement to the original 1300cc; the new engine has covered 170miles since it was installed, so its not even bedded in yet!
I purchased the car for £2500 and within the last month spent over £1000 getting it up and running again; I am purely looking to return what I have spent on the car. Therefore the bug is up for sale at £3500ono.

Not sure to be honest mate; its currently taking up loads of room in my garage. I have a full gym set up being stored at my mates and ide like to get that back to my house so i can stop paying these stupid gym memberships. However i have been looking at doing my light air craft pilots license for a while so it would take a hefty chunk off of that.

And I still haven't seen it! Has the French shit-heap gone back yet or is it soon?

Well im away week after next, but as soon as im back im getting the magic man to make good the dents/scratches and then shes off back to the garlic encrusted pile of shite they call peugeot. :)
Well as soon as im back mate your welcome to come round and see her if she hasnt gone. I might run it a couple of days in the week if its dry so i'll give you a shout :D
Yea gutted im getting rid so soon after spending that much money on it, but it seems the sensible option, other things i need both the space and money for.

Well theres a few ideas floating around in the back of my mind...
Vtech/mini transplant
180sx
Kit car/locust 7 replica
Evo 5
If and when the bug does sell the money will be put aside until I have enough. Although, im currently contemplating doing my light aircraft pilots license but thats £6500 :( boo!
:eyes: Lots of ideas floating around then, looking forward to reading about the next project.

Kit cars are great, but unless you have the patience of a saint I'd buy one ready done and tweak it for your tastes.
Otherwise, Evo ;)

It got off the beach fine but the road that runs aside it is covered in pebbles so the bug was drifting all the way back to the road :D... great fun. Yea ive got home today from holiday to find 3 people who want to come and have a look so will try and sort that out for tomorrow. Fingers crossed she'll go :)

Cheers for the link; that may well come in handy should i go down that route. The other transplant I did consider was an impreza lump into a beetle. Its reasonably straight forward and have been done many times before so theres pleanty of literature on the web for it but in just parts alone its over £8000 and thats before the car and any work that needs doing to it. Think i'll think it over for a month or two once the bug has gone, will give me time to save some pennys :D

Just got back from showing the first person the car and its provisionally sold. His car is on ebay and ends next week but the car has met the reserve and he is coming back to get the car once the money has cleared. Good times :D

HAHA, i apologise *lowers head in shame*. Think the money is going to sit in a pot for a few months until i can gather enough money for a new toy... oooo the choices :D
macca

Lol :D
Lots of choices, it's always hard to choose isn't it! Best advice is go and try out loads of options and have fun doing it, then choose after all that!

Definately hard to choose, certainly think the next car will be a jap and shall certainly have a turbo... if not two ;).
O and the peugeot hangs up its boots next weekend to make way for my next car :D... looks like im going to be getting a vauxhall signum as its replacement :)
All change on the car front :D

Twin turbo, now that is fun and so very addictive, I know that feeling with the gto, the feeling of putting your foot down and going seriously fast.:eyes:

Hey all,
Thought ide revive this thread. The car was provisionally sold back in the summer, however due to the chaps personal circumstances, the sale fell through. So here she is again back up for sale :). The car will also be advertised on Pistonheads and Ebay within the next week :).
Sadly the time has come for me to depart with my lovely 1970 VW beetle.
I have owned the car since 2005 and up until this summer the car remained unmoved from my garage.
The car had been restored by the previous owner and was purchased by myself on the precedence of using it as my first car; but due to other circumstances the car was never used for its intended purpose and as such remained untouched in my garage for four years.
I bit the bullet back in July and got the car MOT’d and back on the road. It has been a dream to drive but sadly the car has to go due to moving away for work.
A bit about the car:
Good points:
The car is a 1970, tax exempt VW Beetle in diamond blue which was only re-sprayed several months prior to me purchasing the car
The original 1300cc engine has been replace with a new 1600cc unleaded engine which has covered only 170miles since it was installed!
The car comes with a full MOT valid until May 2010
A pioneer CD head unit comes installed in the car along with new 6x9” rear speakers
12volt windscreen jet washers
All necessary welding recently undertaken
A folder full to the brim of receipts for items purchased by both myself and the previous owner
Brand new tyres all round, only been driven home from the tyre centre
Brand new brakes (including drums, cables etc) all round
Bad Points:
There are several small, isolated areas of bubbling on the car
As shown in the pictures, there is a very small dent on the offside wheel arch which has chipped a small amount of paint back to the primer.
If you have any queries or feel there are things which I may have missed please do not hesitate to contact me.
