Some of you will have had my message I sent out, but for those of you who didn't, this isn't a pretty sight.

When I was at the scrappy the other day, I came across this. It is a GENUINE AC Cobra :( Such a sad day :(

Hahaa, yeah, couple of people have said that now :p Wish I had the space and money to restore that :)

Sad sight, but it's not genuine one it's a replica. The originals had aluminium body panels, you can see where the fibreglass on that has burned away.

Aye, what I thought too, but I went and enquired about it (thinking would be a good deal if the chassis was alright cos has the interior, the exhausts and back end is fine) but they said it was a genuine and they had various bits of documentation to prove this.

So I'm thinking that it may have been an original, had an accident or something damaging the body and had a fibreglass replica body dropped on cos cheaper than an OEM body.

Or, the pikies in the scrapper were trying it on to get as much money as possible.

I just don't see why you'd crash an original Cobra then replace it with a fiberglass body? It would be mad. And they've replaced the whole thing, rather than repair the main tub?

The layout in the engine bay is all wrong, that bulkhead screams kit car and I'm pretty sure that's not even a Ford 427 engine?

I appreciate it doesnt prove much, but the dash layout isnt right for an original cobra... i am officially sad :D

The Shelby was the one with the 427 Ford lump, that much I know. Never seen a real AC before - I've seen the race spec Shelby Cobra's before, but not a classic AC one.

As for the scrappy, they're actually really decent guys in there, always do me a good deal cos I don't naff about, straight up, and speak English LOL They refuse to serve anyone who won't speak English to them :p hahaa

But as Ang said, end of the day, I'd have it too, if I had space and money lol
