Hey all,

Well the 207 has gone back to peugeot to have the gearbox and engine out to discover why its urinating oil all over my drive. In return I have been given a 950cc peugeot 107 .

I have been looking through my warranty all morning and rules/regs online and the information relating to courtesy cars is vague to say the least. Would any one know if there is an obligation to provide an equivelant or better vehicle whilst your car is having warranty work carried out on it?

I expressed my concerns to the guy at peugeot that I can travel up to 900 miles in a week, a large majority on the motorway and the car isnt really suited to it; As well as this i manage to pretty much fill the car just sitting in it (damn bone structure :D). To top it off when i got in the car the 'empty' sign was flashing on the petrol gage and successfully managed to conck out before i got home. Furious would be an understatement.

Any advice would be gratefully recieved; As soon as I get the car back all scratches are being made good and my policy is being terminated.

AFAIK, when it's being done under the manufacturers warranty, you're basically stuck with whatever they give you.

Insurance companies are the same if you claim via your own insurance, the repairers usually provide the courtesy car as part of their repair contract with the insurance company unless you've paid an additional premium for an "augmented courtesy car" (Admiral offer this for example). This is another reason I'm using (for the 3rd time) a claims management hitsquad to sort out my damage. There was an appeal court ruling back in 2001 that means if the other party is 100% responsible for an accident, then you are entitled to an equivalent loan car whilst their own is made good. Hence, when the Passat was being repaired I got a brand new V70, when the Audi Coupe was being done I got a Golf. Only problem this time is they don't have access to any high-performance coupe's ;) Apparently a brand new Mazda 6 will be arriving as the loan car.

Cheers for the response bud; mmmm looks like the courtesy car will be playing 'find the rev limiter' this week then.

Very useful piece of information, i'll bare this in mind as i have an admiral policy and i have taken out this extra premium. The claims management method certainly sounds like teh way forward; insurance companies just don't seem interested any more, it took my mum 4 years for compensation after someone decided to drive on the wrong site of the road and wipe her car out.

Oooo mazda 6; awesome looking car :D

Find the rev limiter is a great game. I had a loan car whilst my Supra was being repaired a couple of years ago, a frog-shaped Nissan Micra with 3k on the clock. I found that bouncing off the rev limiter it would do 33mph so drove about 2 miles in one gear bouncing off the limiter :) It also got beached along Cooden Beach, pebbles were falling out for days afterwards when I drove around :D
