..found a job! :D
Got a phone call on Thursday offering me one of the two positions at ESCC, so I'm over the moon!
I did very well, as they had fourty eight people apply, seven of which got interviews and two of which got jobs. Apparently even a couple of people inside the department went for the positions as promotion but they felt myself and the other person they have offered the jobs too were that step above to get it. I thought that a nice compliment.
Apparently I got a record time on the practical test too! :D
I'm very pleased as the interview was pretty heavy going, kicking off with a 30-minute written test followed by a 20-minute interview with two guys, followed by a roughly 7-minute presentation written by myself on a subject of my choice () and then finished off with a 10-minute practical test.
They certainly made me work for it!

Well done chap....come on, what was the presentation on? Last time I got a "your choice of subject" presentation to do, I opted to teach the audience to juggle :D
:respekt:
So so very pleased for you Macca. That was so tough, things are meant to happen even if they give you a miserable time waiting! Bet you still won't believe it until you actually start work though.
So Mr when do you start?

Well the brief was a presentation up to 10 minutes, with or without the use of Powerpoint on a personal skill or attribute that you feel would be beneficial to ESCC as an employer. Or thereabouts anyway.
So I chose the subject of communication, with twists on how it accompanies my technical IT skills (it's an IT job if you hadn't worked it out). A risky one, as if you're talking about communication you have to be able to communicate it well!
I was dreading doing it as although I'm very good with people in my job, being the centre of attention for a presentation is my idea of hell. On practice read-throughs with Natasha I was pretty bad, managed to slow the rambling down but could only read it from the paper and sounded boring. Somehow, put in there under pressure, something just clicked and I pulled a really brilliant presentation out of the bag, really interacted with the two interviewers and used my script as notes that I improvised around. I was really pleased, and even more relieved!!

Cheers Ang :D You're exactly right that I won't believe it until I start! Can't wait now though, it's been too long since I've worked properly.
They said it will be about 3-4 weeks until they've got all the references, medical clearance (could be interesting) and paperwork sorted. Will be happy once that's done and I have a start date.
Being local authority I think all the red-tape takes a while to get through.
The medical will be fine Macca, been through a few with WSCC and they have no problems with me. Its great working for a CC as you have more job security and will get a lot of extra little perks ie lots of discounts. Be warned on the pay front, mostly first pay will be by cheque but I think if you manage to contact them directly and in enough time they will get it set up for direct payment into your account.
Excellent news and I am sure they will keep you busy ;)

Thanks Ang, that was the one bit that worried my slightly for obvious reasons. Tasha saw an occ health doctor at her work the other day and asked his opinion, apparently his team do the ESCC medicals and he said it'll be fine as I've been back at work and in remission for so long.

Missed that reply, sorry Ang!
No not started yet, they take aaaaages to get everything sorted. They should have both of the references now, just waiting on the occ health report (just a phone call interview from an occ health nurse which they've done) and I can get a start date.
I spoke to my new manager last week and he says either the 29th June or 6th July, depending on when the paperwork is sorted out. I'm hoping the former!
He's also ordered me some fetching IT department polo shirts to wear at work ;) lol
Not long now then, well polo shirts better than having to spend ages ironing proper shirts, what colour are they? ;)

Black or navy, so I pumped for black. The dress code is smart-casual anyway, but having your own polo shirts saves dirtying your normal clothes so much!
