Well I have my dad to blame for my interest in car's he has always been very much a Ferrari fan but when he changed his first car in the mid 80's it was because he realised the family had to come first and therefore it was a toss up between a Ford Sierra or a Volvo.....
So out of this his first car..

Into this a 1986 Volvo 765 GLE it is powered by the B28E 2.8 V6

The V6 is known as a very poor engine, however the car was always serviced at the required times and only at 198,000 miles did it break down and this was due to a failed main tank fuel pump.. So that was renewed and the car went on to cover a further 8,000 miles before she was replaced. Naturally having had the 760 and it being so reliable how could my mum change to anything other than another Volvo. I have to say when I first passed my test I was driving this 760 and at the time it had done 132,000 ish miles and still felt well bolted together, just before my mum parted with the 760 I had another drive, perhaps a memory trip or a last goodbye.. I am not sure but she still felt very well bolted together and sounded very nice :) not bad for a car with 208,000 miles on the clock...:)
So in any case it went in as part exchange against this...

A 2004 V70 2.0T SE auto it was an ex. Volvo UK car and a lovely fully loaded car, apart from the poor turning circle when compared to the 760 my mum became fond of the car until this happened...

Doesn't look like much but the Mondeo that hit her managed to bend the front to the point where it required £9,000 worth of repairs so she unfortunately bit the bullet before her time :(
Of course this was replaced by another Volvo and yes it is a V70 2.0T SE and yes it is an ex Volvo UK car lol it is an 05 plate so is the facelift shape but despite some minor changes it is essentially the same car, just realised that I haven't got any shots of this car so will have to get that sorted some time soon. :)
Now you may have noticed I changed from talking about dad to mum half way through that... this is because my dad decided to have a mid life crisis and purchase this..

It's a 1985 308 GTS QV it had only covered 26,500 miles when he got it and in 2006 when my mum sold it it had only covered 27,900 miles. It really was a fantastic car but apart from when it was collected for service and mot it lived in the garage as my dad suffered a severe stroke which left him badly disabled meaning he will never be able to drive again. In fact he doesn't even leave the house and relies on care from my mum, brother or I :(
He does still follow the various motorsports on TV and has a keen interest in the Volvo's that my brother and I now own. When they go wrong he gets the blame when they run well he gets thanked! lol
So what car's did your parent/s own? :)

I can't say my parents are petrol heads at all really. My dad used to work for Rover and he used to bring home lots of lovely Rovers, sd1 etc. He appreciates a good car and I do remember us having lots of volvos. My mum is not a petrol head but does get attached to her cars. On her side of the family are the motorbike heads. Out of 5 brothers and sisters only 2 of us are true petrol heads.

I can safely say our 9 year old daughter is a true petrol head and so is her cousin though. :D

I wouldn't say my Dad was a petrol head but he did like his cars. Nothing very special though, he just always enjoyed driving and took an interest in what I was doing with my cars when I caught the bug.

He was incredibly upset when he too had a major stroke and couldn't drive again, and sadly a year later passed away.

I remember him sitting in one of my old mk3 Supra's and moving it down the road a bit for me and sitting there saying how much he liked it :D

Neither of my parents are petrol heads, even with the greatest stretch of imagination.

However, my Stepdad WAS a petrol head in his younger years, and even an ex-race driver for a living. He's worked in motorsport all his career and has had many fun cars including a few Ferraris!
All rubbish ones that broke and cost more to fix than buy, mind you.
