Did you manage to get it out of the field??

I have to say quite taken to the 306 that I'm using daily, not quite like the lude, gto or manta but nippy enough and cheap enough to run around and looks pretty good.

What sort of thing do you want to do to your car Princess? Are you looking for a cosmetic change, better handling a little bit more poke? Its always difficult to know which way to go.

Yes, Macca, I got out the field! Being a diesel, shes a bit like a tractor, never (touch wood) got stuck in her yet!

Hi Ang,
I would like to give her a bit more go, some of the guys on the 106 forum were talking about turboing a diesel, but I dont have a clue where to start with that or how much itd cost! If he passes her MOT 1st time, I'm going to treat her to some alloys, preferably black ones, funds allowing. Gonna get the tracking and suspension done too as shes just a bit lopsided! lol
Mechanically, her brakes are rubbish and she could do with the steering looking at, as its incredibly loose!

You'd be better off finding a cheap turbo diesel engine for it and throwing that in. I expect the old 1.9TD XUD would fit in there pretty easily. Time to learn about getting your hands dirty!!

Peugeot brakes are normally very good so I'd get them checked out, usually even when they're worn out they work very well.

Been reading up on the diesels, apparently the not-fantastic brakes are standard for that model and getting new pads will only slightly improve performance?! No clue really. As for power someone has put an Eaton charger off a mini on his desiel pug with has worked, apparently. It cant be turboed as it is as there is no room for it. An engine transplant may be what it takes, how easy is one of them to get hold of and how much would that cost?

I have 90% warn pads that can vouch for that.... must get them changed.... :sign_ban:

Hmm, if you can't turbo the engine in there due to space then you'll have the same problem putting a different turbodiesel engine in it.

Being a diesel, and an older diesel there's very little you can do to get extra power. Not sure how much space there is under that bonnet but I expect your options are limited on what to do.

Sticking a blower on there is going to be hard, you'll need to know a fair bit about diesel tuning to get it running right, it's not just a bolt it on and go affair.

Tut tut Mr Kehoe!!

The lease ends in november... wonder how long I can string the pads out :P. They have a term in my contract that parts must be supplied by peugeot and installed by a peugeot main dealer not to void my lease. £300ish for pads and discs on the front... they WILL last!!! :D

Typical male thing to say to a girl  LOL. Macca!!

Superchargers can be a good way forward but again space could be a problem also. If you bring it along to a meet I am sure everyone can have a look and see if a turbo can be fitted or suggest a few other things. Macca is right though far better to put a turbo diesel engine into it as the engines can cope with the strain.

When was it last serviced, basics can also be crucial to getting the car running top notch.

Have you any other modifictions fitted?

Mechanically, her brakes are rubbish and she could do with the steering looking at, as its incredibly loose!" My advice here is get a good mot bay who will check the car out. I am no mechanic but it sounds like it all could be linked.

The price or making them last? lol. They are getting changed next month when the car is in to have the leak sorted.

No mods whatsoever, shes just had a new alternator belt, coolant tank and radiator hose done, she was serviced just before the new year. He stripped her brakes right down and cleaned them. Made a difference for a while but reverted back to what they were fairly quickly.
Power wise, think you might be right Macca, others have suggested tuning/changing the fuel pump to get more poke, but need to see what Ive got coz apparently a lucas one would mean drain the system to adjust it bbut a bosch one has the adjuster on the outside. Apparently it is possible to turbo it but would involve quite a bit of work. Think I might save the pennies and get my 3rd gen 'lude Ive been dreaming about!

Spoke to my other half today and he thinks that you probably could turbo it but for the price and extras it would not be worth doing it on your car. We picked up our nice condition t reg 306 1.9 turbo diesel for £200, when you compare its probably not worth the cost. If you want a bit more poke, good fun and actually petrol consumption is not bad then go for a lude. Always happy to help people out find a project.

Well be good to see you when you get out. :D

surely the whole point of the lil car is that its cheap and economical ?
like mildred:)
adding performance parts etc would defeat the point surely ?
if ya want a fast 106 get the gti one then throw in the 1.6 16v lump with a turbo .. 150bhp in a box ;)

Youre right Mark, She is just a run around, and there isnt a huge amount of point in modding her. Oh well :(
Shall await my lude! lol

Ooooooh, nice one to Digger for that one!

You could use your Princess Pug like Marky boy does Mildred and then have a nice little project tucked away somewhere to play with :)

It is a nice little pugger you got there though :)
